Composites

Faster, better, composite. That's the basic guiding principle for our Superabsorber business line. The use of composites has already stood the test in the field of feminine hygiene.

Composites are absorbent surface structures formed by combining FAVOR® absorbent polymers with a textile (cellulose or bicomponent fiber) basis that is delivered as a matrix structure on rolls. The manufacturers of modern hygiene articles then need only to integrate these absorbent pads into their product. This is a system that is finding more and more support. In the case of sanitary napkins and panty liners, it's already state-of-the-art.

Airlaid process

The absorbent pads are comfortable for two reasons. Increased wearing comfort and better freedom of movement thanks to thinner diapers or sanitary napkins are definite advantages for the consumer. By relying on ready-made composites, manufacturers can do away with a difficult step of production and deliver their end products faster. The Superabsorber business line produces its test composites using the familiar Airlaid process. The superabsorber is mixed with cellulose and deposited ("laid down") via an air current. In Krefeld/Germany and in Greensboro/USA, customers can do test runs using our Airlaid technology facilities.

Using comprehensive tests developed by the Superabsorber business line on the basis of EDANA testing methods, the characteristics of the pre-fabricated absorbent pads can be examined and tested. Based on the resulting data, composite manufacturers can develop and build the best possible product.
